The final touches are put on the plantation as we ready for another hunting season. Trail cameras are positioned, tree stands reconditioned, and food plots filled with corn, wheat, rye, and oats. Our deer herd is primed and ready. The quail woods are teaming with birds. Trails are waiting to be blazed. Farmers are picking peanuts and harvesting corn, making way for the barn burning dove shoots that SouthWind is so famous for.

When cold weather returns to the South, ducks migrate down from their northern grounds. You will relish the chance to get on a fast and furious wood duck hole or go on the big lake hunt for ring necks and canvas backs. The first frost turns the woods to that accustomed golden brown. Cold clear crisp mornings in the field reminds one of the finer things in life. As the sun rises over a cold frost covered morning, you feel a renewed flow of energy as you hone in on that single quail on the rise or as you are watching that trophy buck in all his glory. As spring rolls around, we are graced with the pageantry of turkey season. The woods are awoken each morning by the thunderous gobbles of our boss toms, assembling their harems and getting ready to put on the show of the spring as they strut to display their magnificence.
